The project reached its most significant milestone with the Dhatu Nidhana Mahotsava - a grand ceremony to enshrine sacred relics within the newly constructed stupa, formally consecrating it as a place of worship for the temple and its devotees.
Background
Sri Tissapura Rajamaha Viharaya in Padaviya serves as a place of worship and religious life for monks and devotees in the area. A new stupa was constructed at the temple, personally funded from the outset by Mr. Nishantha Thilakarathne, with its completion marked by the enshrinement of sacred relics.
The Problem
A stupa is not considered fully consecrated until sacred relics have been ceremonially enshrined within it. Completing this stage for the newly built stupa at Sri Tissapura Rajamaha Viharaya required both the resources to construct the stupa itself and the means to conduct a Dhatu Nidhana Mahotsava befitting its significance - resources beyond what the temple could provide on its own.

To build a new stupa at Sri Tissapura Rajamaha Viharaya through personal funding, providing the temple with a fully consecrated place of worship; and to mark its completion with the traditional Dhatu Nidhana Mahotsava, enshrining sacred relics within the stupa according to Buddhist custom.
